Governor Blago Mocks Democrats: Corrupt Governor Names Obama’s Senate Replacement!

December 30, 2008 · 1 Comment

Do Democrats ever do the right thing?  Ever since Bill Clinton it seems that the only people who can do wrong are Republicans who at least talk about doing the right thing.  It seems that when one is a liberal one can jettison morality and decency and thus not commit the ultimate sin: being hypocritical by having advanced any moral standards and then failed to live up to them.  It would appear that Democrats hate Hypocrisy almost as much as tax cuts.

William Jefferson Clinton can do Monica in the Oval Office again and again and get grown up adults to BELIEVE that it was not sex because a legal dictionary omitted oral acts as sex and that he didn’t lie because the word “is” is ambiguous, and that his sex life is not relevant in a sexual harassment law suit in which he is the DEFENDANT!!!!!

Now we have the Emperor of Illinois who is determined to hang on to power and to award patronage to his loyal toddies in the face of unanimous opposition from the democrat party and every decent citizen of Illinois and the nation.  The Governor is Clintonian in his belief that he can flaunt his power like Capone, Ignore the voters and rule his empire like a Chicago Politician, and hold his head high like a member of a party that has no standards of decent behavior at all.  If we ever mint a three dollar bill we should put Clintons Portrait on the front of the bill and the winning smile of the foul mouthed crook Blogo on the back!

I understand that democrats have jettisoned any sense of morality on the grounds that they don’t, as lawmakers tasked with governing our society, want to impose their views of right and wrong on people because that would be wrong.  At least that’s what most democrats seem to believe.  Who dares accuse Clinton or Blogo of wrongdoing because they have no right to impose their views of right and wrong on others!  How dare they!  Don’t confuse a democrat by observing that the job description of law makers like senators, congressmen and governors or even Presidents is to make laws that are ALWAYS AN IMPOSITION OF THEIR VIEW OF RIGHT AND WRONG ON SOCIETY.  Every law from the tax code to the stop sign at the end of your block is about a values statement that lawmakers have imposed on our society.  It is the job of legislators and government to codify right and wrong in our society and they have the power and the obligation to enforce adherence to such impositions of right and wrong.

According to the Chicago Sun Times the Governor will appoint Roland Burris to fill the empty Senate chair of President Elect Barak Obama.  Mr. Burris has been a former state Comptroller and Attorney General and is evidently the winner in the Senatorial Sweepstakes that Blago attempted to auction off to the highest bidder.  Is it right to castigate and denounce Mr. Burris for accepting the appointment to this seat from a corrupt governor accused of auctioning off US Senate Seats for his personal gain?

You bet it is.

No honorable man would allow Blogo make an appointment like this on their behalf in direct contravention of decency and honor and integrity.  Apparently Mr. Burris doesn’t care if he’s made to look and act the fool for taking this appointment and thus ending his mediocre career in government.  Burris is 71 years old and would be in for a 6 year ride that will long outlast the corrupt governor who appointed him.  When he’s 77 he can quit having the capstone on his career be the mockery of law, public service and even the intelligence of the most jaded political junkies.

Mr. Burris is as much a dirt bag as the Governor if he takes this appointment, but hey, any friend of Blogo’s can’t be all bad!

COMRAD G. W. BUSH IGNIGHTS A CONSERVATIVE REVOLUTION: JUST SAY “NO” TO SOCIALISM

December 30, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Having been beaten soundly at the polls in November the process of picking up the pieces continues for Conservatives and Republicans alike.  To this end the party seems to have finally noticed the disconnect between its solidly conservative platform and the mushy socialism advanced by President Bush and republican congressmen. This fight has been a long time coming and one can only hope that the article in the Washington Times that reported the party will be far more aggressive in making sure policy made in Washington matches the platform and the conservative principles that make up the Republican Party.

It seems that the Republican Party is about to pass a resolution that essentially calls our serving congressmen and senators, as well as President Bush, a pack of socialists who have abandoned the principals of the party they’re supposed to be serving!  It’s about time!  This has been going on since Speaker Gingrich left the scene and has largely destroyed the party.  I for one have had my share of solicitations from the party even after the election and I tell them they won’t see another dime from me until they get rid of the socialists and RINO’s and ensure that a republican politician votes the way a republican should:  Small government, low taxes, minimal government intervention, free market economy and rule of law instead of rogue treasury secretary’s nationalizing the economy in the dead of night!  The Party has figured out that the real republicans in the real world are actually serious about this conservative agenda and won’t stand for any more “compromise”.

Consider these clips from the Washington Times and don’t forget to check out the full article at the following URL: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/dec/30/rnc-pushes-unprecedented-criticism-of-bailouts/

Republican Party officials say they will try next month to pass a resolution accusing President Bush and congressional Republican leaders of embracing “socialism,” underscoring deep dissension within the party at the end of Mr. Bush’s administration.

Those pushing the resolution, which will come before the Republican National Committee at its January meeting, say elected leaders need to be reminded of core principles. They said the RNC must take the dramatic step of wading into policy debates, which traditionally have been left to lawmakers.

“We can’t be a party of small government, free markets and low taxes while supporting bailouts and nationalizing industries, which lead to big government, socialism and high taxes at the expense of individual liberty and freedoms,” said Solomon Yue, an Oregon member and co-sponsor of a resolution that criticizes the U.S. government bailouts of the financial and auto industries.

If enacted, the resolution would put the party on record opposing the $700 billion bailout of the financial sector, which passed Congress with Republican support and was signed by Mr. Bush, and opposing the bailout of the auto industry. The auto bailout bill was blocked by Senate Republicans, but Mr. Bush then reversed course and announced that he would use financial bailout money to aid the auto manufacturers.

North Dakota Republican Party Chairman Gary Emineth said it’s time for the RNC to end the disconnect between what the party platform says and what elected Republicans do.

“It is time the party gets involved in policy issues and forces candidates to respond to the platform,” Mr. Emineth said. “Frankly the way we view the platform is a joke. We work hard to drive our principles into the platform, then candidates ignore it.”

“If the party doesn’t move in this direction, we will continue to be irrelevant. Whoever has the larger star power will continue to win, and what they stand for and believe will become less relevant,” Mr. Emineth said.

This article is a sign of hope!  We need to kick out the country club republicans and sharply reduce the size and scope of government lest we lose the whole country.  Real Conservatives need to have a backbone and get in the face of the socialist appeasers in our party before we lose the whole country once and for all to European Socialism.  There’s no other way.

TO THE BITTER END: THE WAR AGAINST HAMAS BEGINS WITH AGGRESSIVE AIR STRIKES

December 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Israel has launched a large scale offensive against the Hamas Terror Group that rules the Gaza Strip and announced its goal as the destruction of Hamas once and for all. After years of provocation that would try the patience of Mahatma Gandhi: Israel says they’re going to war with Hamas to the “bitter end”.  One can only hope that this time they mean it.  The perpetually impoverished and ever suffering so called “Palestinians” sit in a pile of rubble their support of Hamas hatred has finally provoked in Israel.  Any other nation in the world would have long since reduced to rubble every building in the Gaza Strip to rubble and would have driven its inhabitance into camps refugee camps in Egypt or wiped out the reduced the population of the strip by half or more.  Any other country would have long since done this including the USA.  Consider the following from a story by Fox News:

From 2000 to 2004, Hamas was responsible for killing nearly 400 Israelis and wounding more than 2,000 in 425 attacks, according to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2001 through May 2008, Hamas launched more than 3,000 Qassam rockets and 2,500 mortar attacks against Israeli targets

France has decried the 300 dead in the war and called the Israeli response to YEARS OF UNBEARABLE UNRELENTING AND IRRATIONAL VIOLENCE: to be “disproportional” How like the French to state the obvious because the only proportional response, after all the Hamas attacks, would be the mass deportation of the so called Palestinians to Egypt and the outright annexation of the Gaza Strip by Israel.  I dare say that this isn’t the outcome that the morally just and courageous French government had in mind.  Not that the Europeans would admit such a thing but the autonomy granted to the “Palestinians” in Gaza and the West Bank have entirely proven that a “two state solution” has no chance of working and should be abandoned.  Peace talks should center on defensible boarder with Israel and if the Palestinians are to have a state let it be made from Jordan or Syria.  Israel needs to restore order to its nation and while civilian deaths are unfortunate: I would not care if we see a hundred thousand “Palestinians” dead at the end of this thing if it really means the end of Hamas.  The French are dead wrong about the efficacy of “proportional” responses and the avoidance of civilian casualties.  This has been tried for years and failed.  If ever there was a time to be decidedly disproportional it’s right now.

So far the White House has clearly supported the Israeli’s and called on Hamas to end the violence.  There is great fear that a war like this in the middle east could escalate into a regional war that would once again threaten oil supplies but even the Arabs may not want to go their lest all the currency they received for their oil become worthless overnight as the western economies crash anew over oil shortages.  In some ways its becoming clear that the west in general and the USA in particular has the Middle East Oil rich Arabs over the same barrel.  It would be far better to settle accounts with Hamas under the remnants of the Bush Administration rather than the incoming Obama Administration.   Even Obama may find the right policy when the air strikes on Iran commence but this kind of sick status quo where civilians have been used by Hamas to get away with murder all these years would be too much for Obama to understand and support.

It would be nice if Israel had real leadership in place but even so a reckoning with Hamas is years overdue and even the current leadership seems to have figured out that they must defeat Hamas once and for all.  Soon, with a bit of luck, it may be the case that Benjamin Netanyahu will form a government and deal with the myriad security issues that now place the Jewish state in mortal peril. Hamas is just one group on a significant and long list that includes Iran, and Syria.  Its entirely possible that the move against Hamas may trigger other wars being planned by Syria before the preparations are entirely complete.  It may be that we cant yet know what prompted the current Israeli leadership to make war on Hamas at this time nor does it matter because the only issue for Israel now is to win it DECICIVLY and in record time without regard to collateral damage among the Palestinians.

Philadelphia Doesn’t Need Any More Parades: Cancel the Mummers!

December 17, 2008 · 4 Comments

I suppose I’m something of a opponent of the calamity, hubris and stupidity of the effete east coast “culture”; but I find I’m both amused and disgusted by the Mummers controversy that’s erupted in Philadelphia lately.  The notoriously ill mannered, even by east coast standards, city of Philadelphia has changed forever from what the remaining blue haired residence of the city nostalgically recall from bygone days.

Philadelphians have been content to sit on their buts, obnoxiously and boorishly, booing the opposition at sporting events and supporting any corrupt dirtbag for public office based on what the dirtbag promised to “do” for his voters.  Philly is a union town destined to go the way of Detroit in the new global economy.  The result is that some area’s of Philadelphia are like Beirut during the height of the civil war: it’s a classically destroyed urban zone whose reliance on big government for sustenance, has spread misery and despair among its reluctant residents.  The Philadelphia that had the Mummers Parade is long since gone and its actual cancelation might go a long way in illustrating that a new, grey, urbanized ,dead zone has overtaken too many eastern cities in general and Philadelphia in particular.

The apply named Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia has stiffed the Mummers a few weeks before the culturally iconic Mummers Parade on New Years Day; supposedly because of Budget constraints.  It’s suggested at the end of the article that perhaps the Mummers parade is really a south Philly, all white event that Black Mayor Nutter and his Black constituents don’t feel like paying for.

Let’s look at both the budget argument and the “racist” argument and see what the deal is.

First if the Mayor says that money is tight this year and funding a parade is not high on his list of things to do then good for him!  As far as I’m concerned, all parades should be entirely privately funded from the Thanksgiving Parade to the Mummers and let’s not forget the homosexual parades.  You don’t need a global financial crisis to object to the city subsidizing parades for turkey day or homosexual practices or for something called “mummers”.  When you have a global financial crisis and someone says no to funding a ridiculous parade then I say good for him! The Mayor is probably just doing his job.

But the Mummers are a Philadelphia tradition!  The Mummers bring in revenue for the city!

Really?

The Mummers personify the arrogance, stupidity and ability to hide your head in the sand that characterizes an east coast “working man’s value system”. The same industrial age values system  that’s killing the urban east and the big three carmakers to boot.  If people want to celebrate the culture of Philadelphia let them clean up the corruption, the crime and the graft.  Let them build schools that work and that educate the kids rather than using kids for ill advised social engineering experiments and  let the gangs, drugs and poverty pimps be rooted out  once and for all.  Now that’s worth having a parade!  That would be a tradition worth commemorating.

The Philadelphia that started this tradition is long gone and will never return.  If the people in and around Philly want this parade let them stop complaining, get off their ass, clean up their neighborhoods, insist on decent standards of private and public conduct and generally act like people who have a tradition worth preserving.

You can’t have a tradition that commemorates unions from the industrial age in the information age amid the stark facts of life reflected in a global economy.  Workers don’t compete against stone hearted managers and evil corporations any more.  Workers in America are in competition with workers in China, India, Singapore, Japan, and South America.  Unions don’t work anymore.

As far as the idea that it’s a white parade that a predominatly black population is canceling, even if it were true, what would be wrong with that?  Would a parade designed to celebrate the black experience or values systems be best held in a lilly white town?  Would black people have a right to complain and not host a parade about a people and values systems they don’t have?

Philadelphia is a black town.  Why should they hold white parades?  If they like the parade I’m sure they’ll keep it but if they don’t than its time has come.  Its not racism: its just reality.

As they say in Philadelphia: GET OVER IT!

Why Threaten the Mummers Parade?

Monday December 15, 2008

Last New Year’s Day Philadelphia’s newly elected mayor, Michael Nutter, walked up Broad Street in the annual Mummers Parade right before the first of the String Bands. He was warmly received by the large crowds. I remember speaking to the mayor briefly. I congratulated him and told him that we all expected big things from him.

I would not suggest that Mayor Nutter walk up Broad Street in the 2009 parade… if the parade even takes place. As part of the mayor’s budget cutting, the City has eliminated all prize money and cut back the amount that it will pay for city services to about a third of what they normally pay. With less than three weeks till the 2009 parade, the City is looking to the Mummers to pay the additional 600,000 or so that it will cost to support the parade.

None of the options available to the Mummers are attractive including the possibility of shortening or changing the parade route or even canceling the parade entirely.

It galls me that just a month ago, the City fully supported the annual Thanksgiving Day parade. For the city to expect the Mummers to come up with a large amount of money in such a short time is unreasonable. If the mayor wants to cut back support of the parade, the cut should be effective for the 2010 parade.

The bigger question is why the cutback. A study has been done which shows that the City actually benefits in real dollars from the parade. Tax dollars are earned from hotel and restaurant taxes, parking and several other sources. The Mayor’s office seems to be turning a blind eye to the positive benefits of the parade. The Mummers are a Philadelphia tradition and one that is well known across the country.

Mysteriously silent has been City Counsel President Ana Verna whose South Philadelphia constituents make up the bulk of the parade’s most ardent supporters.

Could it be that the unspoken belief by many of the mayor’s economic advisers is that the Mummers Parade is primarily a South Philadelphia all-white institution in a city that has become primarily black? It is hard to believe that any consideration would have been given to cutting City support of the Mummers in the days when South Philadelphia politicians controlled City Hall. Those days are long past.

If the Terrorists Can’t Outwit the French: Perhaps We’re Safe At Last!

December 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Associated Press reported on an attempt to bomb a popular French department store that apparently failed.  The Afghan Revolutionary Front claimed responsibility and said the action was because the French have troops in Afghanistan that the terrorist cabal would like removed.  I confess that the idea of French troops seems an oxymoron to me and my mind conjures up images of French commandos, cross trained as pastry chefs, whipping up some croissants and coffee for the American Soldiers each morning.  Perhaps the image is unkind but the idea that the French who are very friendly to the Arabs and all things Islamic, to the point of giving away their own country in a few years, seems laughable.  There’s no need for the terrorists to terrorize the French who have already abdicated world leadership for a sullen socialism and pacifism in the face of Islamic lawlessness in their own country as well as abroad.

It’s not difficult for terrorists to move freely and stage operations at will in France and attacking their shows no great courage or ability and its effects might, at some point, prove counterproductive should the French regain their self respect and courage. The terrorists scored big in India recently with the Mumbai attack but were about a week away from Christmas and they’ve failed to hit the west in any meaningful way.  Not that I’m complaining because I’ve been convinced that somebody’s going to tee off on us soon but I see this foiled plot in France as potentially encouraging.

What if the Bush war on Terror really is working and the Terrorists can’t pull off an operation in France with any expectation of success?  If they can’t pull off a raid in passive, appeasement loving France, than that’s very encouraging news for the rest of us!  Bush has kept us safe these seven years and it seems that the Islamic terrorists are unable or unwilling to mount a determined effort to take the fight to the American Homeland.  I suspect it’s the former and they have no ability to mount a major operation against the United States because our reaction, at least under Bush, is more problematic than the terrorists are prepared to risk.

It’s still possible that the Islamic Jihadists will manage to stage an operation here but I’m beginning to think that Joe Biden is correct and they dare not move until President Elect Obama is sworn in on January 20th.  After all; a nuanced foreign policy is the jihadist’s best friend as the French aptly illustrate.

Here’s a bit of the Associated Press story and the URL: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081216/ap_on_re_eu/eu_france_explosives_defused

PARIS – Police acting on a warning Tuesday found a bundle of dynamite inside a Paris department store at the height of the Christmas season, and a group demanding that France withdraw from Afghanistan claimed responsibility.

Sticks of dynamite tied together but without a detonator were found in the Printemps department store, a favored shopping destination for tourists, and a Christmas season attraction because of its festive window displays.

Interior Minister Michele Alliot-Marie said the explosives appeared “relatively old.” Police said they were found in the third floor restroom of the menswear department. Five sticks were found together, officials said.

“There was no risk of explosion,” the minister said.

French news agency Agence France-Presse said it received a letter Tuesday morning from a group calling itself the Afghan Revolutionary Front saying that several bombs had been planted in the store. Police said they searched the store and found the dynamite because of the warning.

Alliot-Marie said the group was “totally unknown” to police but that the claim was being studied.

In the letter, the group demanded the withdrawal of French troops from Afghanistan before the end of February, and threatened attacks if France refuses.

“Otherwise we will go back into action in your big capitalist stores and this time without warning you,” the letter said, according to AFP.

President Nicolas Sarkozy, who has increased France’s troop levels in Afghanistan, quickly stressed that he would not bend to terrorism. France has 2,800 troops in Afghanistan

As Sound as a Dollar: They’ll Write This on the American Tombstone.

December 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The US Government, and the Federal Reserve Bank, has flooded the world with dollars and its continuing, willy-nilly, to flood the world with dollars and the consequences of this suicidal plan is looking like the total destruction of the American Currency!  It’s one thing to have a run on a bank, or even on most of the banks: a depression is no fun, but it’s an order of magnitude worse to have a depression and add the abject destruction of the American currency.

Many people have become accustomed to horrific economic news such as US Bonds essentially paying no interest and frightened investors, around the globe, buying our debt for no interest just to ensure the security of their capital.  That’s horrific news folks.  The Nationalization of Banking, elements of insurance, and now the Automakers is stunning horrific news and spells the death of our traditional economy and government.  We are now very much a socialist state no matter how we may try to deny it and now we work for the government who probably now owns our mortgage note instead of employing a government to work for us.  Government has become Mommy, Daddy, Priest and Pastor in addition to Uncle Sam and is now the lender, employer, and morality enforcer of last resort as well.  In a stupid attempt to hide from us the consequences of its mismanagement its thrown dollars at every problem and as Obama’s ex-pastor might say: Americas chickens are coming home to roost.  This is horrific news.  Massive stock market spikes and crashes of nearly a thousand points have become unremarkable.  Horrific news has become the norm; we’ve come to expect it and accept it and thus we can be sold anything by the “experts” managing the crisis and we’ll go along with it.  That’s the most horrific news of all.

When the Dollar means nothing, and the world figures it out, there’s going to be lots of anger against Americans as the world dumps its worthless dollars thanks to the irresponsible conduct of the Federal Reserve and both Bush and Obama administrations.  Capitalism will be blamed and our standard of living will be adjusted down sever orders of magnitude.

Its like signing trade deals with the world where other countries can produce for MUCH LESS than we can and expecting that the rest of the worlds wages will rise to parody with American wages.  Baloney.  Our wages will be achieving parody with the rest of the world and we’re fools if we don’t see it.  Socialism finds the lowest common denominator and our way of life is going to steadily fall until we cant remember what we threw away anymore. We can’t compete with other nations who can produce goods and services for a fraction of what’s needed to produce them here:  Its only common sense.  If we want to compete with the world our standard of living is unsustainable.

We’re going to see a time when, like Germany after World War I, you need a wheelbarrow of thousand dollar bills to buy a loaf of bread.  I think the situation in Germany was mismanagement but the situation, when our dollar breaks, will be officially assigned to mismanagement but I think it’s deliberate at the very highest levels of the economic cabal that runs the economy of America.  The Congress and various administrations have served as useful idiots as our government, swollen to ten times its proper size, usurping power reserved to the people, staggers about throwing gasoline on the economic fire that will ensure the death of capitalism and democracy.

I repeat:  the thing to watch is the US Dollar.

When the dollar falls so will our pretence of being a market economy and the new socialist government will be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Federal Reserve and we’ll go from being citizens to employees of the United States in the blink of an eye.  We’ll do anything the government says to maintain our unsustainable standards of living and our government will use that to utterly usurp, at our expense, and future generations, absolute power on earth. No one will dare say a word. When some of us figure it out: it’ll be well past the speaking out stage. No one morns the loss of freedom of speech who refuses to hear the people crying a warning now, about the world to come because it’s too uncomfortable.  We Americans have degenerated to the point where we don’t ask our politicians the hard questions because everyone is afraid of the hard answers.  We don’t want to know what we’ll have to sacrifice to get through this economic mess and talking about it is discouraged as defeatist and fear mongering. No one morns the loss of freedom of speech if their own little world is kept at least marginally serviceable and in the end this marginal middleclass living is the price we’ll have paid for selling America’s very soul.  God help us.

Consider this article I found on Bloomberg:

Read the whole article at this URL: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=a3f._bJvEaZU

Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) — The biggest foreign-exchange strategists and investors say the best may be over for the dollar after a four-month, 24 percent rally.

The currency weakened 5.9 percent measured by the trade- weighted Dollar Index after strengthening between July and November as investors bought the greenback to flee riskier assets and repay dollar-denominated loans from lenders reining in credit. Ever since peaking on Nov. 21, the dollar fell against all 16 of the most-widely traded currencies, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

U.S. policy makers are flooding the world with an extra $8.5 trillion through 23 different plans designed to bail out the financial system and pump up the economy. The decline shows that the increased supply of money may be overwhelming investors just as the government steps up debt sales, the trade and budget deficits grow and de-leveraging by investors slows.

“The dollar will go to new lows as the U.S. attacks its currency,” said John Taylor, chairman of New York-based FX Concepts Inc., which manages about $14.5 billion of currencies.

“We’re at a turning point in terms of dollar dynamics,” said Jens Nordvig, a New York-based strategist at Goldman Sachs, the biggest U.S. securities firm to convert to a bank. “The dollar shortage has been addressed and we’ll see people start to focus on other things and those are all dollar negative.”

After rising from $250 billion in September and October, dollar cash positions at U.S.-based banks have stayed at about $800 billion since Nov. 1, according to Nordvig.

Robert Sinche, the head of global currency strategy at Bank of America in New York, the third-largest U.S. bank, says the dollar is bound to weaken because investors are starting to focus on traditional measures of value such as relative interest rates, budget deficits and trade balances.

As more loans are repaid, there is less need for dollars, forcing investors to value the currency on metrics such as relative interest rates, budget deficits and trade balances. By those measures, the greenback should weaken, according to Sinche.

“A lot of the reasons why the dollar went up are not sustainable and have started to disappear,” said Sinche, who predicts the currency will weaken to $1.44 per euro as early as March 31. “Bad news about the U.S. economy is beginning to be bad news for the dollar.”

The U.S. economy may contract 3.9 percent this quarter and 2 percent in the first three months of 2009, according to the median estimate in a Bloomberg poll.

“Rapid deterioration in the U.S. economy, coupled with the adverse effects of monetary and fiscal stimuli, do not bode well for the dollar,” Citigroup strategists Todd Elmer, Michael Hart, James McCormick and Aerin Williams wrote in a report from New York on Dec. 12. The New York-based bank “foresees short- term dollar weakness, against both Group of 10 and emerging- market currencies,” they wrote.

We’re seeing that correlation between equities and the dollar break down,” said Adam Boyton, a senior currency strategist in New York at Deutsche Bank AG, the world’s biggest currency trader, according to a 2008 Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc survey. “The fact that the dollar is weakening in this environment probably tells you a bit more focus is coming back on the fundamentals of the U.S. economy.”

Disappearing Somalis, Disappearing Common Sense, And the Disappearance of the West

December 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was born and raised in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and I know the people quite well.  Generally of Scandinavian stock and generally well educated the gentle people of Minnesota have a definite desire to do the right thing by everyone.  There is a certain snobbery attendant with Minnesotans who look down their nose at any statement that’s not “politically correct “but this is motivated, in equal measure,  from a desire to be fair, and a naiveté that’s costly in the world of today.  Minnesotans believe that if they’re nice to someone they’ll respond positively and certainly not with suicide vests, aerosol contraptions filled with Ebola, or even a nuclear bomb.  Having spent 4 years in San Diego and now some years in Philadelphia I can see a dangerous complacency in the United States in general and the State of Minnesota in particular.

Education has failed us.  Minnesotans pride themselves on being educated and informed on the events of our times and it’s the Multicultural curriculum that’s disenfranchised Minnesotans from the ability to apply their education and produce common sense, valid plans of action and intelligent responses to social issues. Education in Minnesota has bent over backward, and then some, to provide the aid needed to all our immigrant communities be they the Hmong of Viet Nam or the Somalis of Africa. I know that the Minneapolis Community College has built prayer rooms for Muslim (Somali) students and the airport taxis have granted Moslems the right to refuse rides to blind folks with seeing eye dogs, (dogs are unclean) and anyone with alcohol. (Alcohol being forbidden by Islam)  I have no doubt that well meaning, educated, socially conscious social organizations have gone to bat for the Somali community crying that “not every Muslim is a terrorist” and “we were all immigrants once” and how dare we cast suspicion on the Somali community of the Twin Cities. That’s hate mongering.  That’s just spreading hate and using “national security” to advance the backward far right addenda of the male, Christian dominant community!

Minnesota schools don’t educate in the sense of creating critical thinkers proficient in their field of study but ideological socialists known as “progressives” or “agents of social change” who are proficient in their field of study so long as it does not conflict with the ideological principals with which they’ve been inculcated. One never questions the Multicultural Ideology that saturates education and thus one is entirely vulnerable to terrorist components from Islamic countries.  As I say: Education has failed us.

Minnesota was where some of the 911 hijackers went for flight training.  Political correctness and “Minnesota Nice” would protect them while they learned how to take off, compute and steer a course, and not land!  Minnesota was where a gallant FBI agent drafted a gutsy memo calling for sanity at the risk of her career.  It’s that competing value of wanting to do the right thing and the Midwestern drive to do it no matter how hard it may be.  Such are the contradictions inherent in the conflict between education’s values and the faith that still exists in the Midwest inviting us to follow Christ and the truth above any ideology and to do the right, moral, just thing.

The Midwest is far from stupid but they’ve been sold a bill of good proclaiming that multiculturalism is the road to peace.  Multiculturalism is the road toward balkanization and disenfranchisement and corruption where ideology becomes more important than the truth.  They’ve been sold a bill of goods that their faith is incompatible with logic and reason and thus best described as a sort of backward superstition that truly educated people have evolved beyond.

The truth is that secular humanist values don’t work and have created a narcissistic band of navel gazing hedonists who can’t govern themselves, to say nothing of a country, and that Jewish/Christian values are far superior to any value system yet developed by man.  It has something to do with telling the truth above all and having faith that somehow everything can be used for good by God in the lives of those who follow him.  It sure beats the doctrine that you’ve been enslaved and oppressed and victimized by the dominate culture and you need government to give you hand outs and to level the playing field for you. The educated people of today seem to regard Government as God: and given the true record of government I find it far more logical and reasonable to believe in Jesus.  I don’t think abortion, corruption, economic catastrophes and politics are hallmarks of the kingdom of God: but they are certainly the handiwork of every government on earth.

The faith of the secular humanist of today is science.  If Science says that “man made global warming” will destroy the earth; then all good progressives, who have evolved beyond faith to education, believe it and roundly castigate anyone who offers evidence or valid arguments to the contrary.  If Science says that we need to harvest the stem cells from our legalized system of infanticide to cure illness and save lives; then all the educated people are supposed to support it.  Most do.  After all, if science says its true than it can’t be false.

Science if far more infallible than the Roman Catholic Pope and questioning its conclusions or assertions is tantamount to unforgivable sin in the world view of the Educated Secular Humanist. The truth is that the “global warming” theory may well be wrong and it’s certainly not settled science. There’s lots of junk science out there that’s motivated by preordained political considerations rather than the quest for knowledge and truth.  Science says there’s a “gay gene” that means homosexuals cant help themselves and that means they’re entitled to civil rights protection.   The truth is that there’s no “gay gene.” Homosexuality is not a legitimate civil rights issue.  Science says: No one knows when a “fetus” is a person and therefore we can kill the fetus ethically at the whim of the mother. The truth is that women don’t have the right to kill their babies, not fetus’s, and yes; we really do know that life begins at conception.  Science once said that a nuclear test would ignite the atmosphere and destroy the earth.  Science once said that bleeding a person gets rid of the toxins making them sick.  Science once said that valium was not addictive and that certain drugs were safe until they were forced from the market for being unsafe. Science is a method to know truth not a guarantee of truth.  Like any other method it can be corrupted and misused.

Would you rather have faith that we should all be vegetarians because cow flatulence, that produce more greenhouse gases than human activity, are destroying the planet or would you rather have faith as a Christian that you will know the truth and it will set you free?  I refuse to hate a cow for passing gas on occasion no matter how much it may annoy Al Gore and fly in the face of “environmental science”.

Perhaps the educated view is to organize the cow community and get some cow advocacy to stop the stereotyping of cows and to teach us all respect for cow culture.  In the end; both statements come down to faith.  Planet killing cows forcing us to give up cheese and T bones; or a relentless pursuit of truth because Jesus said we must worship him in truth and spirit?  Perhaps I’m a bad man for today’s world but I must say that I have far more scientifically valid arguments for the virgin birth of Jesus than I do for manmade global warming destroying the earth.  Indeed, I think the evidence supports the idea that we’re going into a new ice age given the cooling of the oceans and the sunspot activity.

Such is the doubletalk I learned in my Minnesota college days and then I read an article on Fox News about Somali men of terrorist age “disappearing” from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.  Consider some clips from the article below:

Dozens of young Somali men in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area have disappeared in recent months, causing community members and U.S. intelligence officials to fear that they are joining jihadist groups in Somalia.

Officials are especially concerned that some of the men may be destined to return to the U.S. after they have received terrorist training.

The missing young men have been the focus of some attention since late October, when Shirwa Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen, died in a suicide bombing in northern Somalia. Ahmed was a 1999 graduate of Minneapolis’s Roosevelt High School.

A senior American intelligence source confirms that Somalis have vanished in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, adding that some people from the Caribbean also appear to have left for Somalia. And not all of the people bound for training or jihad in Somalia have a Somali background, the source said.

A man who appears to be Caucasian and is aligned with the Somalia-based terrorist group Shabaab can be seen in a recent jihadist video, and another gave an interview with al-Jazeera (though he wore a facemask when doing so). The source said that at least three African-Americans from the Minneapolis area also are suspected of traveling to Somalia to join jihadist groups.

My father graduated from a Minneapolis North High School just before World War II. Dad and his generation, and all the ones before him, would have known what to do with this news story. The baby boom generation of today insists that all us racist, sexist, homophobic, absolute truth loving, Christians shut up and don’t we dare stereotype these poor Somalis who’re just trying for the American Dream.

I have faith in the above story.  By that I mean that we all now know that Somalis are “disappearing” into terror training camps and will be coming back to the West once the training is completed to terrorize us.  I don’t mean to impugn the world view of the secular humanist progressives who think that they have a “right” to travel anywhere at any time, and it’s none of our business what they’re up too. It’s not immoral to refuse to allow a potential enemy population to immigrate to our country.  I believe that the truth of our modern world is that it’s too easy for a handful of people to kill whole cities with a weapon borrowed from Pakistan or Iran or North Korea or Russia.  Now this article, that I believe to be true, is definitely at odds with the Progressive Secular Humanist faith that we “never have a right to stereotype others” or to “refuse them entry into our country”.  I understand what they’re saying.  I just don’t believe it anymore.

I guess you could say I’ve lost faith in the new, progressive, baby boom America when it comes to dealing with disappearing Somalis in Minnesota.  But then what are they going to do to me?  Reeducate me?  Tear up my diplomas?

I just think the truth of the matter has come down to not treating Muslims with kid gloves and that we should severely restrict if not eliminate Muslim immigration, access to American schools, hospitals, business and tourism: for safety sake. Keeping us safe is a valid endeavor for government. Enforcing political correctness that imperils our nation is a matter best decided by the people, not the government, because they’re supposed to work for us and not the other way around. We’ve empowered the government to keep us safe not to preach to us or be our Daddy.  I have faith that such a policy would make it much harder to stage an attack in the USA and that the situation warrants this kind of action. If I could I’d kick every last Somali out of my beloved Minnesota and indeed out of the country, I would do it now.

Our Political Ideology is killing us and if we don’t learn to place truth above ideology than we are done as a county.  That may not be a politically correct statement but it sure is true.

The Great Depression II: We’re in a Downward Spiral with No End in Site

December 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

The condition of the United States Economy is a global disaster that will have ramifications economically and geopolitically for decades to come.  For all intents and purposes we’re now in the seminal event of our lifetimes and it promises to be every bit as bad as the Great Depression of the 1930’s.  Too many key aspects of the economy are out of control or hanging by a thread.  44 of 50 state governments are getting clobbered by the massive fall off in revenues as the sickening cycle of deflation continues. Everyone, both corporate and individuals are hording cash and to cutting spending to the bone.  The production of Goods and Services is freezing up just like the credit markets did in the recent past. Many TV analyses will tell you that we have a major crisis in confidence but I would contend that we’ve long passed the problems of poor market psychology into a profound crisis of faith in everything from the dollar, to the banks, to the local Target store. We’re only going to rebound when we have some kind of economic spiritual epiphany and that may take a decade or more as it did in Japan.

To put it in plain English:

·       The government has no idea how to stop the spiral and is indeed making it worse with ill-advised meddling that gets changed every other week as someone in Treasury has a new bright idea and thus institutionalizes “uncertainty”. The Government started out wanting to buy toxic assets from banks but switched within a few weeks to injecting liquidity.  Now the government wants to go back to some version of dealing with toxic assets while doubling or tripling the bailout to try and help “Main Street”.

·       Europe is in worse trouble than we are with their loans to emerging market countries that are now in the toilet much deeper than we are.  This is going to be like Europe’s subprime crisis and its effects will surely resonate in the USA just as our subprime mess resonated in Europe.  This is another shoe that will drop at any time; when it does, its going to increase our trouble by several orders of magnitude.

·       Oil Prices have fallen and there’s a report out today that Merrill Lynch thinks it could drop to an astonishing $25 a barrel from $147 a barrel JUST THIS LAST JULY.  Lots of people take this as good news but the fact is that economic production across the planet has virtually stopped.  It’s as frozen as the credit market was until just recently and with oil, the economic lifeblood of the global economy in absolute free fall; it means that the global economic heart has stopped.  The world had an economic heart attack and we just haven’t realized we’re dead yet. Demand is gone because production is gone because no one is spending on anything they don’t absolutely need.  Did I mention the probability of war in the Middle East between Iran and Israel before the summer? So is unemployment going up? Consider this story from Reuters about unemployment this morning:

·       WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Employers axed payrolls by a shocking 533,000 in November for the weakest performance in 34 years, government data on Friday showed, as the recession inflicted a mounting toll on the U.S. labor market.

·       The Labor Department said the unemployment rate rose to 6.7 percent last month in the highest reading since 1993, compared with 6.5 percent in October, after widespread losses across the country’s major industry sectors.

·       November’s job losses were the steepest since December 1974, when 602,000 jobs were shed, and were much worse than forecast by analysts polled by Reuters who had predicted a reduction of 340,000 jobs.

·       In addition, October’s job losses were revised to show a cut of 320,000, previously reported as a 240,000 loss, while September’s losses were revised to a loss of 403,000 from down 284,00.

·       The length of the workweek slipped to 33.5 hours, the shortest since records began in 1964, a Labor Department official said.

In November alone we lost 602,000 jobs and now have a 6.7% unemployment rate with the potential of the big three automakers either getting a bailout or adding millions to the unemployment statistics.  When?  Reports indicate that General Motors doesn’t have the cash to finish out this month, December of 2008, and without a bailout the December numbers will make the November numbers look like a folk dance. The November 2008 unemployment numbers were the worst in 34 years. These numbers don’t reflect an estimated 422,000 people who simply dropped out of the workforce in November as indicated in a Associated Press article.  Here’s some analysis from that AP article that puts things into perspective rather well:

·       Workers with jobs saw modest wage gains. Average hourly earnings rose to $18.30 in November, a 0.4 percent increase from the previous month. Over the year, wages have grown 3.7 percent, but paychecks haven’t stretched that far because of high prices for energy, food and other items.

·       Worn-out consumers battered by the job losses, shrinking nest eggs and tanking home values have retrenched, throwing the economy into a tailspin. As the unemployment rate continues to move higher, consumers will burrow further, dragging the economy down even more, a vicious cycle that Washington policymakers are trying to break.

·       At 12 months and counting, the recession is longer than the 10-month average length of recessions since World War II. The record for the longest recession in the postwar period is 16 months, which was reached in the 1973-75 and 1981-82 downturns. The current recession might end up matching that or setting a record in terms of duration, analysts say.

·       The 1981-82 recessions was the worst in terms of unemployment since the Great Depression. The jobless rate rose as high as 10.8 percent in late 1982, just as the recession ended, before inching down.

·        Given the current woes, the jobless rate could rise as high as 8.5 percent by the end of next year, some analysts predict. Projections, however, have to be taken with a grain of salt because of all the uncertainties plaguing the economy. Still, the unemployment rate often peaks after a recession has ended. That’s because companies are reluctant to ramp up hiring until they feel certain the recovery has staying power.

The Last bit of cheerful economic news comes from the Peoples Republic of California where the Governor is going to try and pay state vendors with “Warrants” (AKA IOU’s) for the second time since the great depression. Since California is the Eighth largest economy in the world, all by itself, and since you can’t deposit a “warrant” in a bank and you can’t use it to make payroll: what do you think will happen to the work force of the vendor companies?  Unemployment?  You betcha.  The Eighth largest economy in the world, the State of California can’t pay its bills, not unlike the big three automakers, and Lord knows how many of our banks.

I don’t see how we can avoid double digit unemployment of 12-15% by the summer.  If it goes that high look for major social disruptions in the fabric of our society as a likely consequence.  That’s going to feed the fire and people will borough in even more than before.  Once the riots begin no one will be filled with confidence about their economic future and the crisis of faith will worsen.

It took a while in 1929 for the full effects of the stock market crash to become the Great Depression.  Really it was a matter of years.  Things are vastly accelerated in our times so we won’t have to wait years.  18 months should pretty much tell the story and if the recent economic news is any indication:  WE’RE IN BIG TROUBLE AMERICA!

Intolerable: Israel Planning Iranian Attack without US Support

December 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

It’s been reported that the Iranians already have enough nuclear material for an atomic bomb and now the Israeli’s are discovering that America will not intervene and so preparations and planning are underway to take out Iran without American support.  This is almost certainly the “crisis” that the gaff-prone Vice Presidential Candidate Joe Bidden was speaking about regarding a test that would surely come to a President Obama within six months. Israeli Prime Minister Olmert has been waiting and hoping against hope that the Americans would come in and take out the Iranian nuclear facilities to no avail.  The bitter truth is that the Americans aren’t coming and won’t be coming because the days of the USA are over.  If Israel wants to survive it needs to learn to do it within an American free world where the true power of America, its financial power, has been destroyed. The entire world economy is in terrible straits and the attack on Iran, if it happens, has been foisted onto the Jewish state while every other nation clings to a threadbare cloak of deniability.

Another bitter truth is that once Israel attacks Iran, I would suspect now that the attack would come in the spring within, weeks or months, of Netanyahu taking over as Prime Minister, is that this time a true regional war is likely to unfold.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see a major war against Syria and a brutal retaliation against the “Palestinians” that would settle the matter once and for all if Israel wins.  The bible has a well known prediction that Damascus Syria, the oldest continuously inhabited city on earth, with be utterly destroyed.  This prediction has yet to be fulfilled but 2009 is looking very good as the year this prediction will come to pass.  The Syrians and the Iranians are simply intolerable and as the Israeli’s deal with the existential threat in Iran the Syrians and the nongovernmental client groups like Hamas and Hizbullah will surely attack Israel.  If Israel is to survive the only possible outcome means massive destruction in the region and potential use of WMD’s such as chemical/ biological weapons used on Israel and nuclear weapons used on Syria and possibly Iran.

Ever since the Russian Invasion of Georgia the sulking tyrant Vladimir Putin has been militarizing the Middle East and attempting to kindle anew the cold war by flooding the region with Russian Military Assets and with defense agreements.  The question is if Mr. Putin; whose economy is much deeper in the pit that the rest of us given the collapse of oil prices, wants to honor his agreements with Syria and risk World War III.  With Obama in the White House he just may push hard to see if Obama will fold or get some iron in his spine.  I’m not terribly optimistic about the outcome and I doubt that Obama has a clue of what’s in store for him. I doubt that Obama has a clue about what he’ll do so Obama and the world will discover that together.  Its not just on Wall Street where “uncertainty” is the kiss of death it also happens with young untried, untested, presidents take the helm in difficult times.

Joe Bidden is a bit of a buffoon at heart and he badly understated matters when he said that a President Obama would face a crisis in the first six months.  Mr. Obama is likely to face a staggering multiplicity of crisis within the first six months and threats to oil recourses severe enough to level an existential threat to the United States of America played out amid a limited WMD war in the Middle East.  It’s a shame that Israel had such a poor Prime Minister for so long because if Israel must go it alone they needed to do the attack on Iran while George W. Bush was still the President of the United States.  Bush is a known quantity.  Obama can be rolled.

Consider some clips from the Fox News reporting on the current situation:

Israel is drawing up plans to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities and is prepared to launch a strike without backing from the U.S., an Israeli newspaper reported Thursday.

Officials in the Israeli Defense Ministry told The Jerusalem Post that while they prefer to act in consultation with the U.S., they are preparing plans that would allow them to act alone.

“It is always better to coordinate,” a senior Defense Ministry official told the newspaper. “But we are also preparing options that do not include coordination.”

It would be difficult, but not impossible, to launch a strike against Iran without permission from the U.S., as the American Air Force controls the Iraqi airspace Israel’s jets would have to enter on a bombing mission.

However Israel intelligence sources say Iran has sufficient nuclear material to make an atomic bomb.

Last month, amid mounting fears in Israel that the U.S. was doing nothing to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power, Ehud Olmert, Israel’s Prime Minister, warned President Bush the last chance of destroying Tehran’s nuclear bomb-making program was passing.

The Death of Posse Comitatus: We’re Quietly Losing Everything American

December 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The fact of the matter is that America is being taken over and remade right under our noses and those that notice the vague feeling of unease are too overworked and overwhelmed to dig further to the cause.  If we could catch our breath for a few months we might be able to articulate what’s happening to our country and chart a course of action. The techniques of our remake are as familiar as an old shoe but the pace and breadth of our national metamorphosis has accelerated and the depths to which we’ve fallen have increased markedly.  Most people know the USA is in big trouble these days but either block out the bad news or foolishly hope that they’ll somehow ride the thing out with their little world intact. What was it that P. T. Barnum used to say?

“There’s a sucker born every minute.”

You can make an excellent case that the true takeover of the USA and the key event that would result in the loss of our democracy and much of our freedom began with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act and the Presidency of Woodrow Wilson.  The Federal Reserve turned control of the nation’s currency over to a foreign banking cartel and Woodrow Wilson was our foremost champion of globalism and what would later be called the New World Order.  He came up with the Alien and Sedition Acts, the utopian vision of progressives today was sewn by him and he created the League of Nations. Wilson envisioned a government that controlled and directed the people rather than a government of, by, and for, the people.  Like one of the Rothschild’s said way back when: “Give me control of a country’s money and I care not who writes the laws.”

“Money Talks”

So called “activist” judges began to construe their job as correcting and revising the constitution and essentially making up laws as they went along, secure in the knowledge that they were unaccountable to the people, the congress, nor even the president.  If we had called judicial activism what it was: Judicial Corruption, maybe it wouldn’t have achieved so much power but because we pretended that corruption was a valid intellectual point of view we’ve institutionalized and legitimized judicial corruption to our sorrow.  Judges, legislating from the bench, have

·       Legalized infanticide, (abortion) allowed the law to suppress organizations like the Boy Scouts at the behest of liberal client groups like homosexuals.

·       Attacked whole industries like health care and tobacco in the name of the common good.

·        Destroyed the supremacy of marriage between a man and woman and what constitutes a family.

·       Attacked and successfully persecuted Christians to the point where Christmas is now Winter Holliday, Christianity is oppressive to women, minorities and homosexuals, and the 10 commandments must be stricken from public view like prayer in our classrooms.

·       Allowed Gangs of Legal Thugs like the ACLU to terrorize schools and any other organizations that disagree with the progressive social addenda to the point where what you think becomes a crime. I guess the old saying is true:

“Justice is Blind”.

The Progressive point of view has long infested the nation’s colleges but it’s now got a true strangle hold on almost all education in the United States from kindergarten on up.  Kids today learn histories that always show how terrible the Americans were and how evil and selfish the founding fathers were.  I recently heard a child recite a Thanksgiving talk and all the liberal themes of American Oppression, the Goodness of the oppressed Indians and the fundamental legitimacy for everything American, and it seemed both the child and his parents were oblivious to what the boy was saying.  Even the idea that diseased Europeans came and wiped out whole populations of Indians with their diseases was present in the recitation. one man spoke up to correct and introduce the idea that pilgrims were fleeing from religious persecution rather than empire building or looking for Indians to “enslave” but the child and the parents remained clueless.  What was it George Orwell wrote?  Ah yes:

“Ignorance is strength.”

In the last few months we’ve seen the outright death of capitalism and the birth of a weird European socialist economic Neo Fascism grip the United States and destroy the market economy.  We’ve seen the seizure of whole sectors of the economy from banking and insurance to automobile production and I’ve no doubt that Airlines and Socialized Medicine will follow within a year or two.  Every move made to respond to the “economic crisis” seems calculated to institutionalized that crisis and perpetuate the absolute power of government at the expense of its citizens who are now more employees of the USA rather than citizens.  Not a shot was fired.  There were no real protests and no one seemed to notice that the market economy is dead, government is supreme and the dollar will be destroyed by the economic cure that Bernanke and Paulson did while congress and the president hid under their desks. From the insanity of flooding the world with useless dollars to the insanity of borrowing those dollars from china or printing them in the basement of the Federal Reserve it’s clear that the economic crisis will be with us for the rest of my life.  (I’m in my forties) The People wanted the economic bad news to stop so they sold future generations into bondage rather than face the facts of how this nation spends money.  What was it George H. W. Bush used to say?

“Don’t worry, be happy”.

In a matter of months the government has become the lender of last resort to the employer of last resort and there’s no end in sight.  Socialism has defeated Capitalism in America and now they will supplant state and local governments who, stangly enough, don’t have any more money!  Some 44 of 50 States are looking at revenue shortfalls huge enough to make them get in line behind the Airline CEO and the Banking CEO’s (again) and demand their share of tax payer loot because they’re too big to fail.  This sort of thing is how Franklyn Rooseveldt became essentualy our President for Life: he kept the crisis going and used the “solutions” to exert greater and geater control on power.  The guy had 4 presidential terms because there was so much crisis that it was never a good time to hand government over to anyone else.  This inspired the term limits for the Presidency.  What was it FDR used to say all the time?

“Happy Days are Here Again!”

Today it seems that the Federal Government has decided to use our standing army to police and be deployed anywhere in America in clear violation of American law.  It’s a small thing to most people and most folks won’t even notice but this force of brigade strength will be the first of lots more troops in the future that are now empowered to regulate “We the People”. Like any government program in history the justifications for greatly expanding the number of regular army troops that can be deployed by Field Marshal and President George W. Bush  or Field Marshal and President Barak Obama the Beneficent are already being drafted as we speak.  Without a word of discussion, without a meaningful protest an obscure cornerstone of our liberty is being cast aside in the dead of night.  Posse Comitatus is gone for good and we, all of us are the poorer for letting this usurpation of power go unchallenged.  What’s the old saying?

“Those who refuse to learn the lessons of history are condemned to repeat them.”

Check out this excerpt from the Washington Post that I found on Drudge regarding the Federal Troops thing.  There was a time, within our lifetimes ,when this would not have been possible.

But its possible now, isn’t it?  I just wonder what the government will take from us next.

Pentagon to Detail Troops to Bolster Domestic Security

By Spencer S. Hsu and Ann Scott Tyson
Washington Post Staff Writers
Monday, December 1, 2008; A01

The U.S. military expects to have 20,000 uniformed troops inside the United States by 2011 trained to help state and local officials respond to a nuclear terrorist attack or other domestic catastrophe, according to Pentagon officials.

The long-planned shift in the Defense Department’s role in homeland security was recently backed with funding and troop commitments after years of prodding by Congress and outside experts, defense analysts said.

There are critics of the change, in the military and among civil liberties groups and libertarians who express concern that the new homeland emphasis threatens to strain the military and possibly undermine the Posse Comitatus Act, a 130-year-old federal law restricting the military’s role in domestic law enforcement.

But the Bush administration and some in Congress have pushed for a heightened homeland military role since the middle of this decade, saying the greatest domestic threat is terrorists exploiting the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Before the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, dedicating 20,000 troops to domestic response — a nearly sevenfold increase in five years — “would have been extraordinary to the point of unbelievable,” Paul McHale, assistant defense secretary for homeland defense, said in remarks last month at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. But the realization that civilian authorities may be overwhelmed in a catastrophe prompted “a fundamental change in military culture,” he said.

The Pentagon’s plan calls for three rapid-reaction forces to be ready for emergency response by September 2011. The first 4,700-person unit, built around an active-duty combat brigade based at Fort Stewart, Ga., was available as of Oct. 1, said Gen. Victor E. Renuart Jr., commander of the U.S. Northern Command.

Domestic emergency deployment may be “just the first example of a series of expansions in presidential and military authority,” or even an increase in domestic surveillance, said Anna Christensen of the ACLU’s National Security Project. And Cato Vice President Gene Healy warned of “a creeping militarization” of homeland security.

“There’s a notion that whenever there’s an important problem, that the thing to do is to call in the boys in green,” Healy said, “and that’s at odds with our long-standing tradition of being wary of the use of standing armies to keep the peace.”

McHale stressed that the response units will be subject to the act, that only 8 percent of their personnel will be responsible for security and that their duties will be to protect the force, not other law enforcement. For decades, the military has assigned larger units to respond to civil disturbances, such as during the Los Angeles riot in 1992.
