Obama Plays Judas: America Betrays Eastern European Allies

In a stunning reversal of US Policy, the Obama Administration scraped the Eastern European Missile Shield to appease the Russian Strongman; Vladimir Putin.  Obama has stabbed Poland and the Czechoslovakia in the back in a transparent move to appease the Russians in advance of his upcoming meeting with President Medvedev.  During the Russian war of aggression against Georgia during the Olympics the Poles and the Czechs bravely agreed to allow the placement of a new missile defense system on their territory.  The Russians immediately placed both countries on their enemies list and unleashed a torrent of verbal abuse on both nations even while continuing to intimidate the Ukraine and beat up the Georgians.

At the time, it was stated that the missile shield was necessary to protect against rogue nations like Iran, but everyone knew that it was to counter the growing Russian belligerence in the region. Russia goes ballistic whenever its formerly subjugated states indicate they would rather risk their existence as a people, and a nation, to join NATO rather than continue under Russian tyranny.

Poland is already in NATO but they were told any such installation on Polish soil would be target number one for Russian Nuclear Weapons in the event of war.

Nations such as the Ukraine and Georgia risk their freedom to try and join NATO because the Russians are quite willing to use force to keep them in their zone of terror.  The Polish President refused to accept a call from Obama, and later refused to accept a call from the senate confirmed Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton.  I’ve seen no public reports as to whether the Poles talked to the “Foreign Policy Czar” or the “Polish Czar” or the “Betrayal Czar” (We have so many Czars it’s difficult to know who’s really running the show in any given arena of policy since the cabinet, like the constitution and the congress,  is just for show these days.)

In essence Obama has ceded all of Eastern Europe to Russia’s dream of reconstituting the old Soviet Empire. Imagine a criminal thug-ocracy of a new and economically improved Russia taking over the Soviet Empire of satellite states and “spheres of influence” consisting of puppet states run by and for the Kremlin.

Not since Yalta has the world seen such a foolhardy betrayal and sacrifice of a vast section of eastern Europeans; who believe in freedom and democracy far more than the current President of the United States.  At Yalta, Roosevelt was exhausted from the Great Depression, World War II, and having been elected for 4 terms as president.  It begs the question: What’s Obama’s Excuse for this stunning and incompetent display of weakness and appeasement before a wanabe dictator like Putin?

Barak Husain Obama has just dashed the hopes of freedom for all for all of Eastern Europe and has clearly demonstrated that, not only won’t we fight for them; we won’t lift a finger for them.  With friends like the United States, and NATO:  the Eastern Europeans would be well advised to make the best deal they can with Putin and end resistance to Russian demands. This action serves to underline what Obama proved with his earlier betrayal of Israel in the face of the Iranian threat:  The United State under the Obama Administration can’t be believed or counted on and all of our allies are now very much on their own.  The Lights are on in the White House but there’s nobody home.

Obama seems so preoccupied with remaking the United States into a Socialist State that he can’t be bothered with foreign policy until it becomes a crisis. The world has long accepted the view that if Hitler had been stopped at Munich and not appeased by the world powers then World War II may well have been avoided.  Obama’s shameful betrayal of Easter Europe is the “Munich” of our times and it’s quite likely we will see the same results.

Putin must be overjoyed by now…..

The Bullet that Kills the United States: More and More Nations are shooting at the Dollar and as the Dollar Goes—- So goes the Country

The big economic crisis to look for is the worldwide dumping of the United States Dollar.  Technically, (and soon to be formerly) the US Dollar was the world’s reserve currency but ever since the Nefarious Federal Reserve began to print them irresponsibly and to keep interest rates unnaturally low many nations have seen the US dollar as a poor investment. The spending spree of the socialist democrats of the Obama Administration has made the crisis exponentially worse.  The dollar continues to weaken and monetary policy seems to be steering us toward a hyperinflation event not unlike what Argentina experienced.  The Weimar Republic of pre World War II Germany acted just like we are now: and the result was a destroyed economy featuring a German Mark that was so valueless that you needed wheelbarrow full of them to buy a loaf of bread.  Am I saying that we could be coming to the end of the dollar?  Am I saying that we’re coming up on an economic event that will make the Great Depression of the 1930’s look like a folk dance?  Am I saying that our economic dominance of the world is at an end?

Yes.  I am.

Every sane nation in the world is looking toward what will replace the US Dollar and how to convert their ever more valueless dollars into the new world currency.  Meetings are being held, and continue to be held, in Europe for a new world order financial system: and in this quest they are supported by the Russians and the Communist Chinese.  The Chinese have a huge holding of US Dollars and now they laugh openly at our Treasury Secretary when he lectures at a Beijing University; and they comment weakly on the mismanagement and moral depravity of the Dollar and the US Government.  The Communist Chinese are lecturing us on government spending, monetary policy, trade policy, energy policy and its abundantly clear to the world that the Chinese will be our successor as the dominant nation on earth. Leadership of the western world will return to Europe as I think the Euro will emerge victorious when the dollar dies. The Bible says that in the last days the world will be led by Europe and I suspect that when the dust settles the new global conventions of currency and trade will be drafted largely by and for Europe. The world is looking toward the day when the United State dominance of the global financial system will be over.

It’s taking place right now in Washington as the disastrous Cap and Trade Bill passes in the House of Representatives and if passed by the Senate will, all by itself, destroy the American Economy.  This is not to mention the insane Socialized Medicine Bill that the White House is ramming through congress, or the talk of more “stimulus” for the economy, or the bankruptcy of our state and local governments.  The Chinese look at this and clearly are amazed at the rate at which we’re committing suicide as a nation, and as a culture. They need a way to get rid of their dollars while extracting as much value as they can, to convert into a new world order currency.  Every nation knows that if they start selling too many dollars too quickly they can spook the market and it would be like a run at the bank.  Every nation would be selling dollars, driving down the value of the dollar and the costs of commodities sky high, while no one would be buying dollars, nor financing our debt, and the USA would be in economic and political anarchy.

When the Weimar Republic went through this they became, to say the least, politically unstable and finally stabilized under a system of corporatism that the world came to know as Fascism and Nazism under a little guy with a funny mustache named Adolf Hitler.  When there’s no jobs, no food at the store, no meaningful money, bread lines and no hope it’s amazing the kinds of people citizens will listen to if they promise them food and jobs in exchange for an all powerful corporate government. People get so grateful to eat and work that they hardly notice the loss of their liberty, unless of course you happen to be in the group that the government has decided to make “the enemy.”  The world has always said that it couldn’t happen in America but don’t be fooled.  It can happen here: Indeed it is happening here, right now, as the government simply takes over everything without opposition.  The key to opening the door to Neo-fascism and economic hell is the destruction of the US Dollar: and the momentum to dump the dollar continues to gain strength daily in Europe, Russia and China.  At any moment, one or more of these nations could set off a selling spree of the dollar that would destroy it as a currency forever.  Our way of life, and capitalism, and our children’s future, hang in the balance while our politicians spend us into receivership, the Fed prints worthless dollars, and the person are parelized with uncertainty as Obama smiles and promises the moon while stealing all our money, in addition to the money of unborn generations.

Who is going to say no to the first Black President as he changes us from capitalism to socialism, or perhaps fascism, while the people face daily social and governmental changes of such staggering magnitude that most people simply can’t comprehend what’s going on. We, the formerly free people of the United States, may not be cognizant of the changes he’s making but that’s not the case with the rest of the world: and certainly not the case with the Chinese.

Keep watch for the fall of the US Dollar——- That’s when the post American world will begin in earnest.  We aren’t going to like living in it.

Consider this article from Bloomberg.com on the Chinese:

Dollar Falls Most in Month as China Urges New Reserve Currency

Share | Email | Print | A A A

By Oliver Biggadike and Ye Xie

June 27 (Bloomberg) — The dollar declined the most against the euro in a month and dropped versus the yen after China repeated its call for a new global currency.

The Swiss franc declined against the euro and dollar this week as foreign-exchange analysts said the central bank sold its currency three times to support the economy. The greenback fell against most of its major counterparts after the People’s Bank of China said yesterday the International Monetary Fund should manage more of members’ foreign-exchange reserves.

“The dollar’s status as a reserve currency is being questioned,” said Benedikt Germanier, a foreign-exchange strategist in Stamford, Connecticut at UBS AG, the second- largest currency trader. “There are reasons to sell the dollar.”

The U.S. currency fell 0.9 percent to $1.4056 per euro this week from $1.3937 on June 19, the swiftest depreciation since the five days ended May 29. The dollar fell 1.1 percent to 95.18 yen from 96.27, its third consecutive weekly drop. The euro decreased 0.3 percent to 133.85 yen from 134.18.

Federal Reserve policy makers said on June 24 inflation “will remain subdued for some time” and that the economy warrants an “extended period” of low rates.

The 10-year Treasury yield fell the most since March as investors bet the Fed will keep interest rates close to zero for the rest of the year. The difference in yield, or spread, between 2- and 10-year yields decreased this week to 2.43 percentage points, near the narrowest level since May 20.

Stronger Real

Brazil’s real gained 2 percent to 1.9363 versus the greenback, its biggest weekly increase in June, as the sale of shares in Visa Inc.’s local credit-card processing affiliate attracted foreign investors to the world’s biggest initial public offering in more than a year.

The dollar depreciated 2.6 percent to 7.8926 South African rand and 1.4 percent to 7.8002 Swedish krona as the People’s Bank of China said in its 2008 review there’s a need for a global reserve currency “delinked from sovereign nations.”

The Swiss franc declined against the euro and dollar as strategists said the Swiss National Bank sold its currency twice on June 24 and once more a day later to support the economy. Nicolas Haymoz, an SNB spokesman, declined to comment on June 25 on whether the bank acted in foreign-exchange markets.

‘Unwelcome’ Strength

“The SNB has to convince markets that it considers a strong franc as unwelcome,” Unicredit SpA analysts Armin Mekelburg in Munich and Roberto Mialich in Milan wrote in a report yesterday. “We fear that franc bulls will start further attempts to wipe out the line in the sand of 1.50.”

The franc fell 1 percent to 1.5230 against the euro and 0.2 percent to 1.0834 compared with the dollar this week. The Swiss currency declined on June 24 to 1.5380 versus the euro, the weakest level since the mid-March period when the SNB said it intervened to weaken the franc.

The ICE’s Dollar Index fell below 80 on the call from China for an alternative to the dollar as the world’s main reserve currency. The gauge tracking the greenback versus the currencies of six leading trading partners decreased 0.5 percent to 79.90.

“To prevent the deficiencies in the main reserve currency, there’s a need to create a new currency that’s delinked from the economies of the issuers,” the People’s Bank of China, or PBOC, said. China is the biggest foreign holder of U.S. Treasuries, with $763.5 billion in April.

Russia’s Stance

Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said on June 13 after the Group of Eight meeting in Italy that his country had full confidence in the dollar and that it’s “too early” to speak of alternative reserve currencies. Japan has “unshakable” trust in the strong-dollar policy of the U.S., Finance Minister Kaoru Yosano said in Tokyo yesterday.

China called on the U.S. to guarantee the safety of its assets in March, when Premier Wen Jiabao said the nation was “worried” about its holdings of Treasuries.

People’s Bank Governor Zhou Xiaochuan urged the IMF that month to expand the functions of its unit of account and move toward a “super-sovereign reserve currency.” Russian President Dmitry Medvedev proposed on June 5 that nations use a mix of regional reserve currencies to reduce reliance on the dollar.

“There may be signs here of tensions mounting between the PBOC’s economic concerns over China’s holdings of dollars and the Chinese government’s diplomatic reasons for doing so,” Stephen Gallo, head of market analysis at Schneider Foreign Exchange in London, wrote in an e-mail.

Venezuela’s bolivar plunged yesterday to a seven-week low in unregulated trading after the government said investors won’t be able to use a new $3 billion corporate bond offering to obtain dollars until 2011.

The bolivar fell 4.1 percent to 6.90 bolivars per dollar in the parallel market, traders said. The currency tumbled 20 percent this year in the unregulated market as the government pared dollar sales at the official exchange rate of 2.15 after oil, which accounts for 93 percent of the country’s exports, plunged from last year’s record high.

When Pravda Gets America Right: Kiss the Country Goodbye!

Below is an article from Pravda that I found on the Drudge Report.  It’s a sad sorry day for America when the Russian Newspaper Pravda is more accurate and insightful on events in the United States of America than any of our news agencies.  I’ve read this article several times and each time it has the impact of a slap in the face, in your face, brutally truthful, gleefully irreverent evaluation of how far we’ve fallen.  It’s absent any hint of political correctness and if it wasn’t so vindictive it would remind me of how, back in the day, we used to speak frankly about the events in our country when we still had free speech.

The America I knew is gone.  The article below rubs my American nose in that painful reality and I would like to thank its author and even Pravda for an amazing offensive wakeup call that everyone in America needs to heed.  We’ve gotten so full of ourselves that we’re unable to respond to constructive criticism and the traditional values (Pre baby boom values) that made us a great nation.  Perhaps the gleeful break with any semblance of political correctness below is pointing the way toward taking the country back.  Political correctness and truth simply can’t co-exist because Political correctness is about control of voting blocs while the truth of America is supposed to be about freedom and individual liberty. Freedom is mutually exclusive of political control, and identity politics, and the more this PC crap is tolerated the more freedom we lose until we wake up in a Fascist nation with Barak Obama as our new Ill Duce.

The point where the article below may be getting it wrong is that it contends we’re falling into socialism while I’m not ready to commit to that.  We may well be into a fascism where control of the state and the financial  and industrial assets form a new fascism for the twenty-first century. We may fall into the stupor of socialist drones or we may end up goose-stepping into a new age where we will indeed trade our white hats for black ones and allow the elites of banking and government to rule western culture.

One thing is certain: the America I knew is already gone and a bloodless takeover by either neo socialists or neo fascists is already well underway.  The American political system has become so corrupt that it’s now the oppressor of the citizens it was intended to serve.  Half the nation pays no taxes and half the nation seems to think our Black Ill Duce, Barak Obama, is some kind of heaven sent messiah showing us the way to the Promised Land of absolute equality in misery and abject poverty or economic and moral servitude. Barak Obama, the product of baby boom social engineering and its “victory” over racism seems to be the means by which we lose the last of our freedom and enter into the tyranny of financial and political oligarchs.

The article below is from Pravda.

Did I mention Pravda?

American capitalism gone with a whimper

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama’s command that GM’s (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of “pure” free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a “bold” move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our “wise” Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper…but a “freeman” whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set “fair” maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

A Biblical National Security Update: March of 2009 is not Looking Very Peaceful or Stable

It’s a dangerous world these days and nothing underlines that more than the recent headline.

·        Consider the fact that North Korea has a long range missile on the launching pad and has promised to resume their nuclear activities if anyone interferes with their upcoming launch.

·        Iran continues on its merry way to regional war by continuing to develop its nuclear program which seems to have prompted the Israeli People to elect a much more right wing government who is certain to attack Iran this year.  The Bible suggests that Iran will one day join a coalition of nations led by Russia against Israel touching off the war of Armageddon.  (Were it not for Russian assistance the Iranians would not be anywhere close to where they currently are on the development of nuclear weapons.)

·        Russia has increased its funding for the military even as its economy goes down the drain with plummeting oil prices.  They claim it’s a response to NATO expansionism and the deployment of an anti missile shield to Europe. The Bible calls Russia Gog and says that will lead a coalition against Israel in the last days touching off the war of Armageddon.

·        China has recently hassled our warships in the sea of Japan and the Pentagon has released a report chronicling their MASSIVE MILLITARY BUILDUP and openly questioned their intentions. This report enraged the Chinese whose military might seems designed to challenge the United States for world dominance.  The bible indicates that a third of mankind will be wiped out by the “kings of the east” and most scholars agree that china would definitely be included in that description.

·        Russia has announced that they will form a division of their military whose mission will be to guard the oil recourses they’ve recently claimed in the arctic.

·        Obama has announced cuts in military spending with the intention of adding substantially to those cuts with “reforms” that would save even more money.  The United States is not mentioned by name in the Bible and leadership of the western world is held by Europe not the USA.

·        There is growing civil unrest around the globe due to the world economic crisis.  Even nations like Great Briton are courting insolvency underlined by their recent bond offering that failed and with the 30% drop in the British Pound.

·        President Obama has expressed willingness to trade away missile defense for Russian influence with Iran in an attempt to halt their progress toward a viable nuclear weapon.  It’s largely regarded as too little too late.

·        Security for the G20 summit is at issue as the people of Europe have not been shy about expressing their displeasure at the state of the world’s finances.  Violence is expected at the G20 summit in London nest week and there’s a high possibility of a Terrorist Event as well.  The British are one level below “Imminent attack Expected”

·        The Situation in the Nuclear Armed Islamic State of Pakistan continues to degenerate as the weak government fights for survival and as the extremist elements become more powerful.  Nuclear Armed India watches nervously as the government of their traditional foe spirals more out of control; the Mumbai Massacres still fresh in their minds.

·        The Mexican Border is increasingly violent and the CIA thinks Mexico may collapse entirely creating a major problem on our southern border.  Mexico may well become a failed state with untold consequences to the USA

The Sound of Rattling Saber’s: North Korea and China Test Obama’s Mettle

The young president is said to be so focused on the economy that he’s unable to manage even pretence of concern for foreign policy as his faux pas with the British and the fiasco of the letter to Russia indicates.  This inattention has doubtless been the object of speculation from friend and foe alike and the line to “test” Obama seems to be queuing up as the world smells weakness.  It seems that the 47 year old President of the United States is overworked to the point of not being able to cope with foreign policy as indicated by this clip from the Telegraph.co.uk:

Barack Obama’s offhand approach to Gordon Brown’s Washington visit last week came about because the president was facing exhaustion over America’s economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

British officials, meanwhile, admit that the White House and US State Department staff were utterly bemused by complaints that the Prime Minister should have been granted full-blown press conference and a formal dinner, as has been customary. They concede that Obama aides seemed unfamiliar with the expectations that surround a major visit by a British prime minister.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama’s inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”.

The real views of many in Obama administration were laid bare by a State Department official involved in planning the Brown visit, who reacted with fury when questioned by The Sunday Telegraph about why the event was so low-key.

The official dismissed any notion of the special relationship, saying: “There’s nothing special about Britain. You’re just the same as the other 190 countries in the world. You shouldn’t expect special treatment.” The apparent lack of attention to detail by the Obama administration is indicative of what many believe to be Mr Obama’s determination to do too much too quickly.

In addition to passing the largest stimulus package and the largest budget in US history, Mr Obama is battling a plummeting stock market, the possible bankruptcy of General Motors, and rising unemployment. He has also begun historic efforts to achieve universal healthcare, overhaul education and begin a green energy revolution all in his first 50 days in office.

Earlier Mr. Obama made a rookie mistake in allowing a deal he was proposing to Russia, involving giving up the European Missile Shield for Russian “Help” with Iran, and the Russian Government leaked the contents and made Obama look weak and foolish.  A savvy politician like Barak Obama should know that politics is perception and as he commits one foreign policy mistake after the other the perception is that he can’t handle foreign policy or is so distracted by the economy that it’s open season for shenanigans in the rest of the world because the world’s policeman is “too tired”. He better learn to delegate because even the American Government today admits that Iran could build 50 nuclear bombs with what they’ve got right now and no sane person believes that Israel will be able to avoid war with Iran this year.  The Iranian nuclear program is too big a threat and Israel has gone to great lengths to telegraph their willingness to go it alone and indeed their determination to negate the Iranian program.  It clearly is an existential threat: What choice does Obama think the Israeli’s have?

So who else is giving Obama grief in the big bad world?  North Korea has seized on the idea that at the direction of the President we might shoot down some missile test they’re planning and so now North Korean troops are on full alert.  They’ve made it clear that if Obama shoots down the missile they will precipitate a war.  Consider this clip from Fox News:

SEOUL, South Korea —  North Korea put its armed forces on standby Monday and threatened “a war” if anyone tries to shoot down what regional powers suspect is an imminent test-firing of a long-range missile.

Pyongyang also cut off a military hot line with the South, causing a complete shutdown of their border and stranding hundreds of South Koreans working in an industrial zone in the North Korean border city of Kaesong.

Monday’s warning — the latest barrage of threats from the communist regime — came as U.S. and South Korean troops kicked off annual war games across the South, exercises the North has condemned as preparation for an invasion. Pyongyang last week threatened South Korean passenger planes flying near its airspace during the drills.

Analysts say the regime is trying to grab President Barack Obama’s attention as his administration formulates its North Korea policy.

The North also indicated it was pushing ahead with plans to send a communications satellite into space, a provocative launch neighboring governments believe could be a cover for a long-range missile capable of reaching Alaska.

U.S. and Japanese officials have suggested they could shoot down a North Korean missile if necessary, further incensing Pyongyang.

“Shooting our satellite for peaceful purposes will precisely mean a war,” the general staff of the North’s military said in a statement carried Monday by the official Korean Central News Agency.

Any interception will draw “a just retaliatory strike operation not only against all the interceptor means involved but against the strongholds” of the U.S., Japan and South Korea, it said.

The North has ordered military personnel “fully combat ready,” KCNA said in a separate dispatch.

As if this were not enough for our “tired” fearless leader, as he somehow manages to summon the energy to allow massive experimentation with embryos, the “Kings of the East”, otherwise known as China, is engaging in harassment of a US Navy Ship in the South China Sea.  Thank God it’s Monday because my theory is that all those star studded parties Obama has on Wednesday Nights (with the $100 a pound Japanese beef) might be the real reason for his lack of energy.  I sure hope Obama manages to get his beauty rest tonight because this incident in the South China Sea is very much a Chinese test upon which they will make many decisions about how far they can push the Obama Administration in the future.  Once again from Fox News consider the following clips:

WASHINGTON — The White House said Monday that U.S. Navy ships will continue to operate in the South China Sea, where five Chinese vessels shadowed and maneuvered dangerously close to a Navy surveillance ship, prompting an American protest.

“We’re going to continue to operate in those international waters, and we expect the Chinese to observe international law around that,” White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said during a Monday press conference.

Gibbs said U.S. officials had “protested the actions of the Chinese ships.” A formal protest was relayed to the Chinese government from the U.S. embassy in Beijing and it was to be repeated to a Beijing military attache at a Pentagon meeting Monday.

Defense officials in the Obama administration said the incident Sunday followed several days of “increasingly aggressive” acts by Chinese ships in the region. The episode took place in international waters in the South China Sea, about 75 miles south of Hainan Island.

The USNS Impeccable,a surveillance ship, resorted to spraying one Chinese vessel with water from fire hoses to force it away. Despite the impact of the water, Chinese crew members stripped to their underwear and continued closing within 25 feet, the Defense Department said.

The Impeccable is one of five Navy surveillance ships that probe the ocean to gather acoustic data in an effort to detect underwater threats. The craft was specifically designed to use underwater listening devices to augment the Navy’s anti-submarine capability.

“On March 8, 2009, five Chinese vessels shadowed and aggressively maneuvered in dangerously close proximity to USNS Impeccable, in an apparent coordinated effort to harass the U.S. ocean surveillance ship while it was conducting routine operations,” the Pentagon statement said.

The Chinese ships included a Chinese Navy intelligence collection ship, a Bureau of Maritime Fisheries Patrol Vessel, a State Oceanographic Administration patrol vessel, and two small Chinese-flagged trawlers, officials said.

Two of the Chinese ships closed “to within 50 feet, waving Chinese flags and telling Impeccable to leave the area,” officials said in the statement.

“Because the vessels’ intentions were not known, Impeccable sprayed its fire hoses at one of the vessels in order to protect itself,” the Defense statement said. “The Chinese crew members disrobed to their underwear and continued closing to within 25 feet.”

Impeccable’s crew radioed to tell the Chinese ships that it was leaving the area and requested a safe path to navigate, the Pentagon said.

But shortly afterward, two of the Chinese ships stopped directly ahead of the Impeccable, forcing it to make an emergency stop to avoid collision. The Chinese also dropped pieces of wood in the water directly in front of Impeccable’s path.

It’s clear that foreign governments are lining up to test our new President: and it’s an unfortunate fact that in the few foreign policy chores Mr. Obama has attempted, prior to these provocations in Asia, that Mr. Obama does not excel at international relations.  History has shown that to be a very dangerous state of affairs because the learning curve of a weak US president can be very expensive; usually paid in the blood of others.  Perhaps President Obama could take some time away from his ambitious plans to socialize medicine and pay attention to some of the other inhabitance of this old world.  As the challenges to our “tired” commander and chief mount up; I wonder if Mr. Obama will still be keen on cutting the defense budget and depend on his soaring oratory and inspiring speeches to pacify the likes of Ahmadinejad, Putin, Kim Jung Ill or the politburo of Red China.

Britons Offended by Obama Treatment of Prime Minister Brown: It Takes Effort to Offend our Best Friend

Barak Obama has managed to needlessly alienate our closest ally by botching a visit by Prime Minister Gordon Brown of the United Kingdom.  Britton and America have enjoyed a close relationship since the days of Roosevelt and Presidents of both parties have managed to be appreciative of these stalwart allies in a dangerous world.  Until Obama essentially ignored Mr. Brown and his wife, canceling a joint press conference with a lame reference to “snow” and otherwise making it clear that Mr. Brown was something of an interruption rather than a valued friend.  The high-handed Obama was given his comeuppance by the Russians earlier in the week and perhaps the welts on Obama’s backside, administered by Russia, made the prospect of sitting down with a friend like Gordon Brown Unpalatable.

Russia made a fool of President Obama when it leaked his letter offering to trade European Missile Defense, hanging Poland and Ukraine out to dry, for “help” in containing the Iranian Nuclear Bomb project. The letter was mocked by the Russian President with the admonition that there is no “haggling” about such things.  Russia looked good while parading Obama willingness to essentially cede all the old soviet client states back to Russia while managing to look weak compared to Iran.  Not since Jimmy Carter has this level of naivety and stupidity been invested in American Foreign Policy.  Below is a peak at what some in Britton are saying about our Neo-Socialist Messianic President. It’s from the Telegraph.co.uk and here’s the URL: http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/iain_martin/blog/2009/03/04/president_barack_obama_just_plain_rude_to_britain_dont_call_us_in_future

President Barack Obama just plain rude to Britain. Don’t call us in future.

Why couldn’t President Obama have put on more of a show for his British guests? He looked like he simply couldn’t be bothered.

Number 10 may be content that they just about got away with the visit to the Oval Office yesterday, as Andrew Porter reports from Washington.

But on this side of the Atlantic the whole business looked pretty demeaning. The morning papers and TV last night featured plenty of comment focused on the White House’s very odd and, frankly, exceptionally rude treatment of a British PM. Squeezing in a meeting, denying him a full press conference with flags etc. The British press corps, left outside for an hour in the cold, can take it and their privations are of limited concern to the public.

But Obama’s merely warmish words (one of our closest allies, said with little sincerity or passion) left a bitter taste with this Atlanticist. Especially after his team had made Number 10 beg for a mini press conference and then not even offered the PM lunch.

We get the point, sunshine: we’re just one of many allies and you want fancy new friends. Well, the next time you need something doing, something which impinges on your national security, then try calling the French, or the Japanese, or best of all the Germans. The French will be able to offer you first rate support from their catering corps but beyond that you’ll be on your own.

When it comes to men, munitions and commitment you’ll soon find out why it pays to at least treat the Brits with some manners.

As World Depression Worsens Social Unrest Threatens the Stability of Governments

Here’s a story from Reuters UK about some of the problems going on in Russia.  Many governments are in the same boat, including the UK, and that’s why the CIA is including an economic section in the Presidents Daily Briefing because it considers the Depression a National Security Threat.  Friendly governments can be destabilized and unfriendly governments can be driven to rash actions while the world founders in deep economic distress.

Russia’s Putin warns against economic protests

By Oleg Shchedrov

NOVO-OGARYOVA, Russia, Feb 27 (Reuters) – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned opposition critics on Friday not to use the economic crisis as an excuse to challenge his government and told them to abide by the law.

Unrest across Russia over economic upheaval has been muted, with the biggest protests so far taking place in the Far East port of Vladivostok where hundreds were arrested in January demonstrations over car tax.

Speaking at a meeting with leaders of Russia’s dominant political party, United Russia, ahead of regional elections this weekend, Putin said that criticism of the Russian government during a crisis was allowed, but only within the laws.

“If opposition actions go outside the law, it means they are not pursuing the goals of improving people’s lives, but their own selfish goals and the state has the right to defend itself properly,” Putin said at his residence outside Moscow.

Russia has tight controls that restrict opposition groups from holding rallies or marches without official sanction. Applications from groups like chess grandmaster Garry Kasparov’s ‘Other Russia’ movement are frequently rejected.

Putin and other senior Russian officials have criticized “people’s revolutions” in ex-Soviet Georgia and Ukraine which propelled pro-Western leaders to power through street protests.

“We won’t allow events to happen like in some other countries, to which I will not point a finger now. At the same time, we won’t limit lawful forms of protest,” Putin said.

The ballot will mark the first electoral test for Putin since the global slowdown hit Russia last summer.

Opposition groups this month started a series of protests across Russia and are hoping to expand their limited base of support to those affected by the dramatic slowdown in the Russian economy that has sent unemployment soaring.

After a decade of steady growth, the economy is set to shrink by at least two per cent this year, which economists say will push up the jobless rate, now standing at over 8 percent.

Putin’s comments were dismissed by opposition figure Ilya Yashin of the newly-formed Solidarity group who said authorities define any criticism as a threat to national interests.

“This is an indicator of the nervousness of the authorities which understand how huge is the probability of public unrest,” said Yashin. (Reporting by Oleg Shchedrov and Aydar Buribayev, writing by Conor Sweeney)
